Small Bathroom Remodel

Small Bathroom Remodel

If you have a cramped bathroom in your home, a small bathroom remodel can help you to have more space. Choosing the correct fixtures can give you the feeling of more space and also create a little more space without changing the walls.

If your bathroom includes a tub and you only use the shower, consider removing the tub and replacing it with a shower. A small shower stall can give room for a large closet in the bathroom to store linens and towels so that you can create more space in other ways. If you have other larger bathrooms located in the home that provide bathing or showering facilities and this bathroom is just for guest use, consider removing the tub and making the bath a powder room with just a toilet and sink. You can gain an additional fifteen square feet in a small bathroom.

Once you have removed the tub and installed the closet, take a look at the bathroom sink. If you have a large vanity that is taking up a lot of space, consider replacing it with a pedestal sink. The sink will be just as functional as the vanity and the storage you lose has been easily replaced with your new closet.

Over the toilet storage is a great way to reclaim some lost space in the bathroom. You will find many different over the toilet storage methods that can help to increase the space in the bathroom.

Add lots of mirrors. While mirrors do not actually add space, they can create an illusion of more space in the bathroom. You are going to need a mirror in the room anyway, so why not let it make you feel like more room.…

Choosing a Bathtub for Your Bathroom Remodel

Choosing a Bathtub for Your Bathroom Remodel

When planning a bathroom remodeling project, it used to be that you didn’t have many choices of bathtubs, but today there is a bewildering array of tubs in different shapes, sizes, and materials. How do you choose which kind of tub is right for you? Here are some of the factors to consider when selecting a bathtub.

If you are particularly large or tall, you might be more comfortable in a wider or longer bathtub. On the other hand, if you’re petite, you probably don’t want an extra deep soaking tub. If you like long soaks, you might prefer a tub that has contoured armrests and back support so you can rest easy.

If someone in your household has trouble maneuvering, or if you’re planning to retire at your home, take these factors into consideration during your bathroom remodeling project. Install grab bars in the bathtub area and think about installing a walk-in model, which permits you to enter the tub through a door rather than stepping over the rim.

How are you planning to decorate your bathroom? If you’re going for an old-fashioned look, a claw-footed cast iron tub might be the way to go. On the other hand, if you want a pampered, spa-like environment, you probably want the luxury of jetted or soaking tub.

Configuration Depending on the layout of your bathroom, it may make more sense to have a free-standing tub in the middle of the room or an alcove tub set into the wall. Jetted tubs often need a platform that raises them above the floor.

Acrylic – This plastic material is economical and very popular for tubs since it is lightweight and can be shaped into numerous designs. It is glossy and can come in just about any color. If scratched, the marks can often be removed through buffing.

Cast Iron – Usually coated in enamel, cast iron is the most durable of bathtub materials. It holds heat well, so it’s ideal if you like long soaks, but it’s heavier than other materials, so you may need to reinforce the bathroom floor. Cast iron doesn’t scratch easily and can last a lifetime.

Fiberglass Gelcoat (FRP): FRP is similar to acrylic in its appearance and cost and can be molded into many shapes, making it a good choice for jetted baths. It isn’t as durable as acrylic and may need to be replaced sooner.…

Kitchen and Bathroom Remodeling Considerations

Kitchen and Bathroom Remodeling Considerations

You probably should start with kitchen remodeling, since that is where the most heat is exchanged. You cook in there, you eat sometimes, you entertain guests, do laundry, store food stuffs, keep all kinds of appliances ranging from basic to complex electrical, to simple kitchen utensils and all of that. After you might have done all of that for long enough, the cooking space is going to start to fall apart right before your very eyes. You may not even see it at first, but one day you will see the cracks and you will need to fix them.

Recreating your bathroom may not seem like much because there usually aren’t as many fixtures, but often the two ventures tend to match in pricing because they require extensive reworking of almost everything if you are to get the best results.

Kitchen remodeling will have you changing a few appliances and equipment, and buying a number of new ones as well. When you remodel a kitchen, you may want to redo the floors, repaint the walls, perhaps change the sink, change the countertops, and generally create more space in which you get around.

Bathroom remodeling really is not that far behind. You may desire to install a Jacuzzi instead of the old bathtub, which is a major project that involves piping and plumbing and a lot of electrical stuff. The floor and lavatory may also be serious works that you have to contemplate.

By and by, these two major home improvement projects are going to cost you big time, so you want to prepare for them with a budget and a workable plan. Without them, you’d be making a big mess of everything.…

Keep Your Bathroom Organized With the Perfect Cabinet

Keep Your Bathroom Organized With the Perfect Cabinet

An organized and pleasant bathroom can be in your interest. If your bathroom is not like that, maybe it misses a piece of puzzle. The missing puzzle might be your bathroom cabinet.

Have you ever experienced that when you get up early in the morning and you go to shower to find hardly the things you need? Maybe it is because you do not use your bathroom space at its potential. Maybe it is because you are not a very organized person and a new cabinet will help you put things in order. A bathroom cabinet can increase the level of satisfaction and enhance the beauty of your bathroom.

If you have numerous cosmetics in your bathroom and a typical bathroom medicine cabinet, then you should know that nobody is surprised you have a messy bathroom. Think on this before you start remodeling your bathroom.

Before purchasing anything, step number one is to measure the space you have for your new cabinet. Step number two is to make a choice before you start remodeling your bathroom:

1. You can choose between a wall mounted cabinet or a massive cabinet. If you have little space, then go for the wall mounted cabinet or cabinets. This type of cabinet provides a vast storage, easy access and it is elegant too. Traditional cabinets are installed above the sink, commonly with a mirror on the door. You can choose a cabinetry style vanity with a single or a double sink bowl.

2. Think if you want to buy your cabinet from a home improvement store or have it custom made.

There are different types of bathroom cabinets that you can find on the market to suit your storage necessities:

1. PVC (Polyvinyl chloride) storage cabinet.

2. Aluminum cabinet.

3. Stainless steel cabinet.

4. Massive wooden cabinet.

5. Illuminated cabinet.

6. Bamboo bathroom cabinet.

7. Hand painted cabinet.

Bathroom cabinets can have multiple designs, depending on specific needs:

1. Wall cabinet: easy to fix on the wall. It can be installed in a corner, over the toilet.

2. Closet cabinet: they fit into a large bathroom, being perfect for storing lots of things.

3. Shelves: two or more stylish shelves can be considered a cabinet. They are perfect to use over the bathtub to keep the bottles of shampoo, conditioner, lotion etc.

You can think on your bathroom cabinet like a special part of your dressing room, where you deposit your body care products and other necessary things. Like your clothes, your personal hygiene products deserve to be stored in an organized and clean place.…

Bathroom Remodeling Success Stories – Make it Happen For You

Bathroom Remodeling Success Stories – Make it Happen For You

Many things will motivate you to get started on a bathroom remodeling project such as:

– purchase of a foreclosure and the bathroom is beyond disgusting

– the vinyl floor is probably from the 1970’s

– you have nowhere to store your cosmetics – except on the floor

– the shower is too small and you hope you don’t get stuck

– you can’t turn around in the bathroom at all – has it always been this small?

Whatever your reason, you will never go wrong in refreshing and modernizing your bathroom space. Not only will it be more functional for you and your family, but also the added value when you resell your home will be extraordinary and quite rewarding.

A very successful bathroom remodel can result in just the tweaking of a small powder room. This often overlooked area is probably the smallest room in your house – maybe two feet by seven feet – and you might not give it much thought. One of my most successful bathroom remodels, however, was a tiny hall bathroom. The paint was just plain white, there was no mirror, the vinyl floor was peeling, and the toilet had its own personality – and not a good one at that!

To begin this bathroom remodeling, I painted the walls a creamy yellow which gave it an instant polish. Next, I chose natural slate tiles for durability and classy look. A small vertical mirror fit perfectly over the new pedestal sink. Finally, the new water-saving toilet was installed. To top everything off, natural soy candles, fluffy white towels, and nickel hardware completed the look. This low-profile powder room remodel was completed with a tiny budget, but made such a huge difference!

Bathroom remodeling for the master suite is a bit more daunting. My best remodel of a master bath occurred in my own house when it was new and still had builder-grade materials. The biggest chore was to add a new garden tub with jets in the corner and install a new glass block window near the tub. New flooring made from natural slate (my favorite flooring material) gave a nice foundation to the entire bathroom. High-quality accessories such as hand woven rugs and linens, soy candles, handmade cosmetic jars, and nickel hardware made the new bathroom very welcoming. The key to success for this project was keeping everything organized. Good organization and planning also leads to completing projects within budget!

Whether your bathroom remodeling project is large or small, a bit of up-front planning and price research will pay off in the end. A lot of time is spent in the bathroom, and during home resell time, you will be glad that your bathroom sparkles.…

Bathroom Remodeling – Changing the Toilet

Bathroom Remodeling – Changing the Toilet

Remodeling your bathroom is an easy task, even for inexperienced DIY-fans. Doing everything by yourself is a good way of saving money.

What you need are only a couple of tools. Bathroom remodeling is easier than it sounds. You’ll need: thick gloves, some rags, pliers, a wrench, a screwdriver, a knife, a scraper, pry bar, and a caulking gun. Sometimes you’ll need even less. What you’ll need depends on your toilet type.

Besides the tools, you’ll also need bolts, rings (of wax) and a water supply line. Don’t use old parts for the previous toilet; make sure everything you install is new. Older parts may be deteriorated, even if you don’t see it and new parts cost only a couple of dollars.

Some toilets get delivered with everything that you need to mount it (of course, excluding the tools). So, there is no need to rush to buy anything.

Here’s a step-by-step process you can follow:

First step, the supply water has to be turned off. Also flush the toilet, so you won’t have any leaking from the old tank reservoir of the old toilet. Many people forget this step.

Second step is simply preparation. Does the new toilet have any chips? Or is it damaged somehow? In this case, check your transport insurance, since it might cover it. Never ever install a damaged toilet. The crack will only get worse, and at the end you’ll get a huge leak from it. Remove the old toilet and clean thoroughly the floor below it. Also clean the bottom of the new toilet.

Third: Time to disconnect the old toilet, removing the tank, and removing its bolts. Cut the old caulking, that’s why you need the putty knife or any other knife. Remove it and place it carefully upon some rags.

Fourth, installing the new toilet. Now it goes in the inverse way that with the old one. Connect the drain, proceed to sealing it with caulking, screw the bolts, seal them with wax re-connect the water supply. Test it to see that everything is working and that no water is leaking.

It won’t take you much more than a couple of hours. The most inexperienced home-owner can do it right, alone and without too much headaches. It is easier than it seems. Just check that no water is leaking, dripping or otherwise escaping the toilet.…

Picking the Best Contractor For Remodeling Your Bathroom

Picking the Best Contractor For Remodeling Your Bathroom

If asked which room would you love to redo, the first might be the kitchen but in a close second will come the bathroom. If you’ve decided you can’t live with that room anymore it’s time for a bathroom remodeling job.

For most people this room is much more than a place to do your business and get cleaned up. It’s a place to escape from the kids, relax in a bubble bath and just simply renew your mind, body and senses. When it comes to having a bathroom remodeling job done, you want to ensure that you get it done on time and within your budget. To accomplish this you need to ensure that you have the right contractor or company to do it for you.

When it comes to finding that contractor or company the first place you need to look for is the internet. Sure you could grab a bunch of names at random out of the phonebook and do cold calling unsure of what you’ll find. By doing a search on the net you can view reviews of companies, check with the better business bureau, see their sites and possibly some examples of their work and get a feel about the service provider that you are considering for your bathroom remodeling job.

You need someone who is reputable and can get your room finished on time. You need someone who has workmen specialized in all the important areas of bathroom remodeling. You need a service provider who will give you some sort of guarantee on their work. It’s best not to hire a contractor who will require a total upfront payment in order to do the work. You have no guarantee they will finish the work on time or at all this way. Paying a portion of the fees upfront to secure the contract is fine, but you need some assurances that the services will be finished to satisfaction.

Take your time to research this project. In the long run, unless you are really experienced with tools and plumbing, it is best to hire someone to do the project for you. You need to ensure that you will get the best price for the work you want done, but you don’t want to get ripped off. If you are planning an expansive remodeling job you need a company that can get the unique pieces you want. Not everyone can install the water proof electronics or hook up a hot tub if that is your pleasure. Doing your homework before you call for a consultation can help you weed out the problem contractors before you start.…

What Are The Benefits Of Investing In A Smart Thermostat?

A TAC thermostat is one of the advanced products that play a vital role in helping homeowners make a well-connected home. With the capability to learn your preferences and habits, the advantage of smart thermostats comprises improved efficiency, convenience, and many more. In this post, we will highlight some of the benefits of smart thermostats, such as TAC thermostats. You will learn what these devices can bring to your house and how they can enhance your cooling and heating experience.

Smart Thermostats Explained

A smart thermostat surpasses the abilities of any other thermostat group on the field. Even though a programmable thermostat can facilitate energy saving with its scheduling abilities, a smart thermostat is ahead by far. Rather than setting your schedules, the smart thermostat will learn your schedules so that they will implement the most comfortable and efficient settings in your house every time.

The specs of smart thermostats vary from brand to brand. Most of them provide options that boost user convenience in numerous areas. These devices help people stay updated with their HVAC unit requirements to protect this paramount device.

Advantages of Smart Thermostats

A smart thermostat is more advanced than the programmable models. Let’s highlight various ways a smart thermostat can enhance your experience.

Efficient Settings Every Time

With the capabilities to study your comfort preferences and schedules, this device will keep your home at the required temperature. This allows you to save energy. A thermostat is connected to detectors to assist it in identifying when your house has occupants for automatic adjustment of temperature.

Remain connected Even When you are Not Home or Office

The moment you have TAC thermostat installation completed, you won’t need to touch the device again. Whenever you want to change the room temperature, you will be able to do it from your phone or computer. Some thermostats work with your smart home appliances to offer improved convenience.

Arrive to Comfort Every Time

Learning abilities and geo-fencing technologies let the device adjust the temperatures as per the time you are anticipated to be home. This means you will always come to a comfortable time after long hours of energy-efficient temperature hindrances. Once you link your thermostat to your phone, the device is alerted when you are about to reach home.

Protecting Your Heating and Cooling Unit

A smart thermostat offers comfort control only. The technology allows you to take care of your HVAC unit. The device sends signals whenever maintenance services like filter changes are needed. This means you stay updated with your HVAC maintenance requirements. With the energy usage monitoring, a TAC thermostat will sense when your unit utilizes excess energy, an indication of an issue with your HVAC unit.

Smart Energy Monitoring

One of the benefits of smart TAC thermostats is the energy consumption information it collects. You will view your house’s energy usage with time on the device’s app or online platform. This will save you a lot of cash on energy costs. This data is important in assisting homeowners in making decisions that lessen energy consumption.
