Raise Your Home’s Value With Home Improvement

Raise Your Home’s Value With Home Improvement

If you’re going to sell your home or simply want to raise its value there are multiple things that you can do.

However the most overlooked but most effective method available to you is to improve your home. Home improvements can add immense value to your home especially in the bathrooms and kitchens. These two areas are the most important areas in a home when it comes to everyday living and customizing them can add immense value.

One of the reasons for this is that there are thousands of homes made by name brands all across the country. All of these are identical in design to the others of the same model so their initial resell value is low. Any home improvements add to the individuality and value of a home but really large scale improvements can add value in the range of tens of thousands of dollars.

Let’s take a look at the bathroom for starters. Most homes come with a toilet, a sink with a cabinet, and a tub that also doubles as a shower. This is the standard bathroom and while it is functional it is not very desirable. You have many areas in this room to improve upon but most choose to do something about the shower. If you have the funding, time, patience and skills you can convert your typical shower tub into a very relaxing and inviting area.

Most often people will replace the traditional tub with a hot tub, install new tiling, install a new shower system, and possibly add glass doors or metal railings. These are not uncommon items and are by far not the most expensive to purchase. However if done properly it can increase the value of your home.

The next area to look at is the kitchen. Kitchens are standardized with many drawers, cabinets, a stove, and a place for a fridge. While you will not be deviating from this, the goal is to simply enhance the effect. Installing new cabinets, drawers, flooring, wallpaper, and a center table if you have the room can do wonders for a home. Another item that works for any room in a home is the lighting.

Lighting can make boring rooms grand and bad lighting can make impressive rooms abysmal. While it’s all just beams of light and not actual renovation the proper lighting can make all the difference when modifying a room. It’s always best to examine this area first before making any changes to your home. The idea is to take the route that will raise the value at a price point you can afford.

Raising a home’s value can be done through an assortment of ways but home improvement is the best route. Changing the lighting, replacing tiling, and upgrading rooms can increase the value of your home tremendously. Remember that before you give up hope on increasing your home’s value to take a look at your local home remodeling contractor, with their help you may be inspired to make changes.…

Some bathroom remodeling ideas require some more work than others but that does not mean that they are not good ideas or impossible to do. Some small design changes could be getting new faucets, bathroom liners or extra long shower curtains to change the look of the bathroom.

Bath Remodeling Ideas

Bath Remodeling Ideas

Remodeling your bathroom can be challenging as you need time and patience to develop a design and look for the materials you want. You can easily visit online sites or read books and magazines to get bathroom remodeling ideas to come up with a design that works for you. When coming up with a design for your bathroom remodeling project, you must consider the layout of your bathroom and its size. If your bathroom is small, it may not be a feasible idea to install large mirrors and two bathroom sinks. It would also be too cluttered if you were to add too many bathroom accessories. If your bathroom is spacious, on the other hand, you may want to consider getting a wide bathtub and glass shower stall. The important thing is to properly design your bathroom before you call a contractor. Make sure you have solid bathroom remodeling ideas so that it is easier to execute.

Since remodeling a bathroom can be expensive, you must take steps to save on costs. There are several bathroom remodeling ideas that will allow you to do so. For instance, you can probably fix some of the items rather than replace them. You can refinish your bathtub or repaint the cabinets to make them look more stylish and different. You can also use an old bookcase to serve as shelves inside the bathroom to hold your towels and other bathing items. If you can improve on other items, do so as it would be more costly to get everything brand new. In addition, you must consider your budget. It may be more practical not to use frameless glass shower stall as it is exorbitantly expensive. You also have to consider whether getting granite counters, marble floorings, designer paint, or state-of-the-art bathroom head will fit your budget.

Another way to save on costs is to get help only where it is needed. For instance, you can probably install the bathroom flooring, make the shelves or cabinets, and install the mirror if you are handy with carpentry tools. However, for major undertakings such as installing a new toilet or building a new shower stall, it may be better to call a professional bathroom remodeling company. This will save you a lot of time and money in the long run as you minimize the chances of having to redo the installation of the toilet or creation of the shower stall if you get them wrong. Following these bathroom remodeling ideas will surely save you not just an exorbitant amount of money but also save you from a lot of frustration and stress.…

Lead Based Paint: Ready or Not the New Law Is Here!

Lead Based Paint: Ready or Not the New Law Is Here!

On April 22, 2010 the EPA enacted a new, nationwide set of regulations regarding lead based paint. It has been an absolute JOY (Not!) informing new and existing clients of the risks of lead based paint and the new regulations and fines enacted by Big Brother, I mean, our benevolent government. As a contractor, we are REQUIRED to be the bearer of bad news for those of you who own homes built before 1978. The fines for looking the other way, not informing you of the risks, not giving you the required literature, and not using the required lead paint renovation procedures, start at $37,000 per day! The government is very serious about this issue and the risks to your family.

Several potential clients have asked why we can’t just ignore the new law. Well, several reasons, in fact, 37,000 reasons. Obviously, the risk to your family is the most important reason, but beyond that, contractors can’t risk their business, their home and the physical and financial well being of their employees and subcontractors just to save a few dollars. Contractors have had to invested a lot of money sending staff to the required certification courses, purchasing the necessary protective and cleaning materials and tools, and implementing the required physical and record keeping procedures to be in full compliance. When a contractor suggests that you can ignore the new law, they not only put your family’s health at risk, they also put your financial future at risk. This law is so new, we still don’t know where all of the liability will end up. If you allow renovations to be completed that ignore the new law, you will have to disclose that fact when you sell your home. If you don’t disclose that fact, you open yourself up to huge legal liability. I’m sure we’re not very far off from the late night TV commercial with the deep voiced, concerned announcer who says, “Have you ever had your home remodeled? You may have been injured by lead based paint, and deserve compensation…”.

Make sure you take the time to learn more about this subject and protect your family physically and financially.…

Kitchen and Bathroom Remodeling – Why You Absolutely Need to Remodel Both During Home Improvement

Kitchen and Bathroom Remodeling – Why You Absolutely Need to Remodel Both During Home Improvement

You may want to improve the quality and resale price of your entire home, but not necessarily because you are trying to sell it; you might want to do it simply because it makes you feel better or because you are tired of the way it is.

People do home improvement all the time, but many times, they end up unhappy with what they have created by the time they are done. It is not because they have not put adequate time and effort into doing it; it is more because they have been looking in all the wrong places hoping to find the right answers.

I don’t even want to know the number of rooms that your home has, but I can guarantee that you have a kitchen and a bathroom. Without really realizing it, these are the two most used rooms in the home. You may spend a lot of time in the living room watching the TV, but when you hit the kitchen, it is time for serious business. It really was not too funny when someone said: ‘if you can’t handle the heat, then get out of the kitchen.’ It’s because the kitchen packs a lot of heat, and heat changes things.

You may spend a lot of time sleeping in the bedroom, but when you hit the bathroom, it is time also for serious business. Toileting, cleaning up, bathing; these things are basal instincts that have been modernized to make them more comfortable.

If you are not going to relegate yourself back to the dark ages, you had better see that you remodel your kitchen and your bathroom at least as often as twice in a single decade. In any case, these are the two major projects that make up a home improvement exercise. You might want to get a hang of how it works in a hurry.…
